Georgia O’Keeffe was born on November 15th, 1887, and died on March 6th, 1986. She was 98. O’Keeffe’s style was still life or precisionism in which she would paint natural settings like flowers, bones and landscapes. A thing that you will find different in her style is that all of her drawings or paintings do not have people in it, which is why she is mostly famous for her large scale flower paintings.
This art piece is called, Autumn Leaves. I believe that this art work shows change. The artist wanted to capture green life going to red then to brown, symbolizing the life cycle of the leaf, contrasting with the background that symbolizes life continuing. “Autumn Leaves” is an ironic piece that shows over time, things will change for the better or worse.
Georgia O’Keeffe touched me with “Autumn Leaves” by showing change in our everyday lives. This piece speaks to me saying along the road some day is your time to change.
