To Lie or not to Lie
The pain of the truth over powers you. To not let anyone down is your only motive. It slips put. Now everyone accept you is happy, for now. The short story, “The Lie”, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is an enjoyable tale that questions whether lying is right or wrong and how one little lie can turn a family’s ideas and hopes around.
Lying is not always bad. Some people lie to intentionally hurt; others lie to protect. Little “white lies” are supposedly fine, but only when used correctly, like to save someone’s feelings from beings hurt. Protective lies are pretty much the only type or kind of lie that would be acceptable. Although, some fib to destroy others emotions, like bullies do, or some may even lie to save themselves from trouble when they should step up and be accountable for their actions, which are both askew ways of using lies.
People think, “if I just say this one little lie then everything will be okay and I won’t get caught.”, but what they don’t know is that eventually the lie is caught in the act. Then when the lie is caught people’s feelings and ideas change, sometimes for the better, others for the bad. As for the Eli Remenzel in “The Lie”, his whole family changed for the better. They now care, and listen to his feelings, plus his parents don’t pressure him as frequently or as harshly anymore.
The controversy between lying being right or wrong is questioned and also how one lie and be life changing which are both evident in “The Lie”, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Lies can hurt, so choose wisely what you say and what is honestly true.

Fall Assessment, 2010
Every night you grow closer and closer. Trust and love builds up inside you. Your body is overwhelmed with kindness. You now will be forever safe and well loved. The story “Magic and the Night River” was an enjoyable tale about how kindness can turn into rewards and tight bonds will never be broke.
Kindness can sometimes turn into rewards. Like in, “Magic and the Night River” Grandfather and Yoshi are very kind to the cormorants and everyone around them. So in return the cormorants give them fish. This kindness is very unusual and rare because most people just think of themselves. Others will do kind things just so they will receive a reward which is not right.
Kindness can lead to friendship, and over time that friendship will grow. Trust, love, and respect will build up in the friendship. Then when the friendship is strong, the bond between the friends can never be broken. This is so between Grandfather, Yoshi, and the cormorants, when all of the cormorants stay loyal and by Grandfather and Yoshi’s side.
Pure kindness and tight bonds are well found in, “Magic and the Night River” but are rare to find among us. Give kindness and kindness will give back.
